Make a Timeline

A Timeline is simply a schedule of your Wedding Day events and the times set aside for photographs as they relate to the other events.

For example, if the Bride walks down the isle at 4pm, everything revolves around that time.

What time will she be getting her hair and makeup done?
What time will she get dressed? ~ between 2pm and 3pm?
What time will he be getting dressed? ~ between 3pm and 3:30pm?

Your photographer will plan on these time slots to take photos.

After these photos are taken, is usually a good time to start scheduling the group photographs of the wedding party as well as family groupings.

Immediately after the ceremony, your photographer will get the Bride & Groom together in a pre-determined location to take photographs of the newlyweds. Remember, the guests will typically not begin to eat until the couple arrives as a married couple.

These are just some scenarios and your wedding day is yours. By making a written timeline that is shared by both your photographer and planner, you will reduce stress on yourself and provide guidance to the guests involved.

Early in the Wedding Planning stages, make a timeline and revise it as you get closer to the day. I promise you will feel more in control, experience less stress, and don’t be afraid to adjust it even a day or two out. Remember though, give a copy to both your photographer and planner as you revise it.
